Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about auto transport and car shipping.
Pricing & Payment
How much does it cost to ship a car?
Pricing depends on distance, vehicle size, transport type (open vs enclosed), and seasonal demand. A typical cross-country shipment ranges from $800-$1,500 for open transport. Get a free quote for accurate pricing for your specific route.
Do I have to pay upfront?
No. We don't require payment until your vehicle is dispatched to a carrier. This protects you and ensures we're committed to finding the right carrier for your shipment.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfers. Business accounts can arrange invoicing with net-30 terms.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The quote we provide includes all standard transport costs. The only potential additions would be if your vehicle is inoperable (requires special equipment) or if you request additional services.
Timing & Scheduling
How long does auto transport take?
Transit times vary by distance. Generally: 1-500 miles = 1-3 days, 500-1000 miles = 3-5 days, 1000-2000 miles = 5-7 days, Coast to coast = 7-10 days. These are estimates; actual times depend on route and carrier availability.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking 1-2 weeks in advance for the best carrier options. However, we can often arrange last-minute transport if needed. During peak seasons (snowbird season, summer), book earlier.
Can I choose a specific pickup/delivery date?
We work with pickup and delivery windows rather than exact dates. Typically a 2-3 day window for pickup. We'll coordinate with you to find timing that works.
Insurance & Safety
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Yes. All carriers in our network carry cargo insurance. We verify coverage before every pickup. Minimum $100,000 cargo coverage is required. We can provide certificate of insurance upon request.
What if my car is damaged during transport?
Damage is rare, but if it occurs, you're protected. Document any damage on the Bill of Lading at delivery, take photos, and contact us immediately. We'll help you file a claim with the carrier's insurance.
How do you vet your carriers?
We verify FMCSA licensing, DOT registration, and insurance coverage for every carrier. We also track performance and only work with carriers who meet our standards for reliability and care.
Vehicle Preparation
How should I prepare my car for transport?
Remove personal items (carriers aren't insured for belongings), ensure the car starts and drives (or tell us if it doesn't), leave about 1/4 tank of gas, disable alarms, and note any existing damage.
Can I ship personal items in my car?
We recommend removing all personal items. Carriers aren't insured for personal belongings, and extra weight can affect transport. A small bag in the trunk is usually fine, but check with us first.
What if my car doesn't run?
We can transport non-running vehicles. Let us know when requesting a quote so we can match you with a carrier equipped for inoperable vehicles. There may be an additional fee.
Service Details
What's the difference between open and enclosed transport?
Open transport: Your car rides on an open carrier with other vehicles. Most affordable, used for 95% of shipments. Enclosed transport: Your car is in a fully enclosed trailer, protected from weather and debris. Recommended for luxury, classic, or high-value vehicles.
What is door-to-door service?
We pick up and deliver your vehicle as close to your specified addresses as safely possible. Large trucks can't always access narrow streets or low-clearance areas, so we may arrange a nearby meeting point.
Do you ship motorcycles, boats, or RVs?
We specialize in cars, trucks, and SUVs. For motorcycles, boats, or RVs, contact us and we can discuss options or refer you to a specialist.
